Sizing & Fit

Why don't you offer half sizes?

As a startup, we've chosen to focus on a streamlined size range to keep production costs manageable. Each additional size requires its own molds and increases manufacturing costs significantly.

SHOULD I SIZE UP OR DOWN?

Our boots tend to run large. If you wear them with thin socks, and prefer a more snug fit, we recommend sizing down. If you wear thicker socks, or prefer a little extra room for a more barefoot feel, we recommend sizing up. The tall design and secure fit around the ankle and midfoot help keep the boots comfortably in place, so choosing the larger size is a great option for many customers.

If you find you have a little extra room, adding an insole can help create a more secure fit.

CAN I WEAR ORTHOTICS OR INSOLES?

The removable insole allows many users to customize the fit, though results will vary depending on the orthotic. If the fit is roomier than you'd like, we recommend adding an insole.

HOW DO THEY FIT COMPARED TO XTRATUF, MUCK, OR BOGS?

Our boots offer significantly more room in the toe box and a more natural foot shape than traditional rubber boots. We recommend checking the sizing guide before ordering.

PRODUCT & DESIGN

WHY NOT MAKE THEM THINNER?

Barefoot shoes are designed to allow natural movement and ground awareness, but we believe the right amount of protection is essential especially for a boot designed for outdoor work.

We consulted with natural pedorthist Joe Quinlan (shout-out to Joe!), who helped us choose a stack height that balances ground feel with the protection needed for everyday wear.

At 19mm, BareBoots provide enough separation from hard surfaces like concrete floors, gravel, and rocky terrain while still allowing your feet to move naturally and maintain connection with
the ground. The added protection also helps shield your feet from sharp or uneven surfaces you may encounter while working outdoors.

We designed BareBoots to be a practical work boot first one that supports natural foot function without sacrificing the durability and protection needed for long days outside.

ARE THEY ZERO-DROP?

Yes. BareBoots are zero-drop, meaning the heel and forefoot sit at the same height rather than having a raised heel.

This design allows your foot to rest in a more natural position and supports a more natural way of moving.

WHAT TEMPERATURES ARE THEY DESIGNED FOR?

These boots are designed as a three-season boot and can be worn comfortably across a wide range of temperatures. Individual comfort will vary depending on activity level and sock choice.

ARE THEY FLEXIBLE?

Yes. Unlike many rubber boots that feel stiff and restrictive, these boots are designed to flex with your foot for a more natural walking experience.

DO YOU PLAN TO OFFER MORE COLORS AND STYLES?

Absolutely.

Our goal is to eventually offer a range of colors and styles, including mid-calf boots, ankle boots, garden clogs, and insulated winter boots.

For now, we're starting with a single style and a limited selection of colors so we can focus on building the best possible product. Each additional color requires its own minimum production run, which represents a significant investment for a young company.

As BareBoots grows, we'll be able to expand the collection. Every purchase helps make those
future designs possible.

MATERIALS & MANUFACTURING

WHAT ARE THE BOOTS MADE OF?

We believe customers deserve to know what they're buying. Our boots use an FSC-certified natural-rubber-based compound. Like virtually all durable rubber boots, the compound combines natural rubber with other materials to improve strength, durability, and longevity. The exact recipe is proprietary to our manufacturing partner, so we can't publish a complete ingredient breakdown (yet!). We'll always share the information we've been able to verify.

WHERE ARE BAREBOOTS MADE?

BareBoots are manufactured in China. We explored manufacturing in Europe, but ultimately chose a factory with extensive experience producing high-quality vulcanized rubber boots.

We selected our manufacturing partner based on product quality, technical expertise, and a shared commitment to responsible manufacturing. The rubber used in our boots is sourced from FSC-certified natural rubber, and we continue to work closely with our factory to improve both quality and sustainability.

As BareBoots grows, we plan to invest even more in our supply chain through factory visits, additional third-party certifications where appropriate, and continued improvements to materials
and manufacturing practices.
